The 2013-2014 MA Squash Hardball Doubles League is upon us!
Given the good amount of interest in hardball doubles and potential for growing this league, we are changing the format this year to add a women’s division!
We will now have a B, C, and a Women’s match most weeks, with matches played at 3 locations: University Club, Harvard Club, and the Lynch van Otterloo YMCA in Marblehead. In addition to teams from the 3 clubs with courts, there is also a “Nomads” team comprised of players from other clubs. The Nomads team plays all its matches away.
The season will run from December-March, with about 12 matches played on a Saturday or Sunday. The league schedule is still tentative, but we anticipate the first matches will be played on December 14th. Final schedule will be published in the Massachusetts Squash Leagues section of the US Squash site.
All matches will be conducted according to the official squash doubles rules as published by US Squash. Matches are best of 5 games, 15 points. All players must be MA Squash and US Squash members in good standing.
A team is awarded one point for each match won. The team with the most points at the end of the season will be the league champion. In case of a tie, a suitable playoff will be arranged.
There is a $100 entry fee for each team.
This is a sanctioned league. MA Squash will provide trophies for the league champs at its Annual Meeting on May 5th.
