31 teams in total entered our 2015 state softball doubles championships. There were some new faces among a dedicated veteran group. This year was a great success. Everyone did an amazing job of working around their busy schedules to get their matches played on time. Thank you to all the players!
In the Open 4.0 draw, Bill Vigne and Doug O’Brien had a very closely contested match against Randy Bock and Malick Ghachem. After having cruised ahead two nil, Randy and Malick came back to level the match at two all. Bill and Doug managed to prevail 3-2, however.
Rich Schafer and Doug Steinberg, finalists a few years ago in both their flights, were back playing again this year to contest the Open 5.0 flight. But they were no match for two very handy opponents in Wes Del Col and Bryan Ciborowski, who prevailed 3-1.
The Open 6.0 final pitted Chris Smith and Anthony Bardaro against newcomers Chessin Gertler and Jonathan Barry. This match was incredibly fast paced and really could have gone either way, but Chessin and Jonathan were able to take this match 3-1.
