Massachusetts State Junior Championships @ Middlesex

We held the Mass States at the Middlesex School in Concord, MA for the first time. The venue proved to be an excellent one with eight courts, spacious locker rooms and a very comfortable lounge where breakfast and lunch were served both Saturday and Sunday. We were able to start early Saturday morning instead of Friday afternoon which made for a much easier travel schedule for all. And, with plenty of courts, we were able to finish by around 7:00 PM each day which eased the strain for the tournament committee of Jessica McMinn, Jon Ross, Morgan Poor and Tom Poor.
We used round robin and Monrad draws for 137 entrants in 10 divisions, amounting to just short of 300 matches in two days. Monrad draws enabled almost everyone to play four or five matches to a single finishing spot. Photo album.
