Formerly known as the “Junior League,” this is a series of Sunday afternoon round robins for beginner/intermediate junior players to get games in a friendly, less-competitive environment.

Sessions are held at Harvard Murr Center (kids up to grade 8) and at Milton Academy (high school.) There are 2 separate “Pod” sessions held at Harvard for 1.5 hours each (2-3:30pm and 3:30-5pm) and a single 2 hour session at Milton starting at 3pm.

Efforts are made to get the kids into matchups with players of similar ability where possible. The pod groupings at the Harvard location are ability based: pod 1 is the strongest, players participate in gold tournaments; pod 2 is players regularly participating in tournament play; pod 3 is players beginning to play in a few tournaments; pod 4 is players with some match experience, but who are still early on in learning the game; pod 5 is beginners who can carry on points, but have little match-play experience.

This program is free with preference given to MA/US Squash members. All participants are encouraged to become members of course!

Volunteers are always needed – parents are welcome to help out at any of the sessions. Just let Suzy Schwartz know in advance or let the on site round robin coordinator know on the day of play.

MA Junior Committee sends out an email with signup link about 2-3 weeks before each event. To get the email notices, just send your details to Suzy Schwartz – email below. Also, reminders with a link to the signup page are included in the MA Squash general email blasts. To get those, add your name to the MA Squash general email list. There is a signup box for that on the main MA Squash web page.

Like last year, we are collecting used juniors’ shoes that are no longer needed and donating them to the Taiwo Squash Youth Development organization. At any Round Robin juniors can bring/donate their old shoes and help out a worthy program. Tai Kuti, an assistant squash pro at the Boston Racquet Club, brings the shoes to his annual summer 2-week clinic at the University of Lagos, Nigeria.
