The University Club will host open doubles round robins for all MA Squash members on Saturday, October 17 and Saturday, November 14, from 1 to 5pm. Both court will be made available at 1pm. for B doubles, at 2pm for C doubles, and at 3pm for mixed and women’s doubles. These times are intended for people who have played in the state doubles league or play at a comparable level. All others, including those will no doubles experience, are welcome to come at 4pm, when both courts and several qualified instructors will be available. Most new doubles players with singles ratings above 2.5 should be able to play in the state doubles league if they attend both of these round robins.
If you want to attend the first round robin on October 17, please email Ralph Kusinitz of Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA at rkusinitz@comcast.net by Wednesday, October 14. Up to 12 players will be accepted for each hour.
Women who have played B or C in the league are welcome at 1pm or 2pm, respectively. You can sign up for two hours in case the round robin is undersubscribed, but you must express your preference for one hour in case it’s oversubscribed. Ralph will advise everyone of the state of signups as soon as possible.
The state doubles league will start in December or January. The hope is for these round robins to generate more interest in playing in the league. This is a great opportunity for a lot of doubles players to get together, have fun, and brainstorm about ways to encourage more doubles play. MA Squash is very fortunate that The University Club has two double courts and is willing to make them both available for all members at these times.
