MA Squash has a great reputation across the country for its outstanding membership, district management, level of play and enthusiasm. Our juniors, our women, our league players and our tourney players all make the district a benchmark of performance. Our district has also produced several current US Squash Board Members, providing leadership for the board and for districts nationwide.
First and foremost, a heart felt congratulations to the newly elected US Squash Board Chair, Sandy Tierney. His preparation for this role and contribution to the game of squash are unparalleled. He is joined on the board by Scott Poirier. Scott leads the Finance Committee and is committed to improving the organization’s financial performance in dozens of creative ways. The third MA Squash member to join the current board is Kara Kardon. Kara leads the District Committee. There she will work to grow squash across the country by improving districts’ relationship and communication with US Squash and with one another. Each of their bios from US Squash are included below. Sandy Tierney is the Executive Managing Director of Meds and Eds at Newmark| McCall/Almy where he advises institutional and corporate clients on real estate strategy formulation and implementation. He began playing squash at Brooks School in the fall of 1968 and went on to play at Dartmouth where he earned All-American honors. Sandy began playing doubles exclusively in the early 80s and has won more than 20 US, Canadian and World age group doubles titles. He served on the board of SquashBusters from 2000 – 2018 and continues to be involved as an advisor, fund-raiser and as a member of its Expansion Committee.Sandy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and a Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School.
Scott Poirier is President and Owner of ProBuilder Financial, LLC. and has over 20 years of experience in the banking and finance industry at Citibank, FleetBoston Financial, and NewStar Financial. Previously, he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He received a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Yale University. He is licensed as both a Construction Supervisor and Real Estate Agent in Massachusetts.An accomplished and active squash player dating back to his USMA days, Scott’s children also compete in junior squash.
Kara Kardon has been with PwC for nearly 20 years in a variety of roles and is currently the Director of Customer Success at PwC Digital. A graduate of The Wharton School and VA Tech College of Engineering, she was most recently the board president of MA Squash. Kara is an enthusiastic squash player and has two sons who each played collegiate squash.
