2016 MA Squash Singles Championships

The 2016 Massachusetts Squash Singles Championships have begun!

The annual MA State squash tournament is an excellent opportunity for players of all abilities and ages to compete against your peers.  No other tournaments offer the breadth and depth of competition of the state. This season’s tournament will offer 27 different draws for genders, skill levels and ages.  The 2016 tourney promises to be bigger and more competitive than last year so don’t miss out on the challenge!  AND it’s free!  There is no entry fee for current MA Squash and US Squash members – your US squash membership must be current in order to register.

Registration is open and closes on January 15, 2016

Play begins on February 1, 2016 and concludes at the Finals Event on Thursday April 7, 2016.

Draws:

Women’s skill levels: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+

Women’s age levels: 20+, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+

Open skill levels: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0

Men’s age levels: 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+

Each draw will be scheduled independently based on the number of entrants.  The format of the tournament is single elimination for most draws and the scoring for all matches will be PAR-11.

Eligibility:  To qualify for any of the age level draws, you must be the minimum age of the draw as of Jan 1, 2016.  To qualify for any of the skill level draws, you must be at or below the rating level of the draw as of Jan 1, 2016.  For example, in order to qualify for open 4.0, your US Squash rating must be at or below 4.0 on Jan 1 2016.  Each draw will be administered by a volunteer draw coordinator who is familiar with most of the players in their respective draws.  The coordinator will determine eligibility for draws and may reassign as required.

You may enter more than one draw but no more than two skill level draws.

Don’t miss this very competitive and fun event.   Even if you don’t quite make it through to the finals plan to attend finals night at Harvard’s Murr Center.  Refreshments will be provided courtesy of MA Squash.
