2015 MA Squash Singles Championships
Registration Deadline: December 31, 2014
This annual event is a great opportunity for players of all abilities and ages to compete in this largest tournament of the year. There will be 26 skill level and age level draws offered, so everyone can find at least one in which to compete. Registration is free for current MA Squash and US Squash members. Before registering, please verify that your memberships are current and that you would be available to play the championship match on Thursday, April 9, 2015.
Tournament details:
- Single elimination for most draws, some with consolation rounds. Small draws (<7 players) may be in round robin format.
- All draws will be scheduled and administered by volunteer draw coordinators who are familiar with most players in their respective draws.
- PAR-11 scoring will be used for all matches.
- The tournament will be managed entirely through US Squash, including registration.
- If a high school student has a final match, a $10 fee will need to be paid to Harvard University.

- Registration ends: Friday, December 31, 2014
- Play begins: Monday, January 5, 2015 Note: may be later for smaller draws
- Play ends (finals): Thursday, April 9, 2015 All final matches will be played 4/9/15
The recent adjustments made by US Squash to many players’ ratings have resulted in improved accuracy and will therefore be used to determine eligibility for this tournament’s draws. As an example, the Open 4.5 draw would include only players whose ratings are at or below 4.50. This may result in some players being eligible for a tournament draw that is different from that of her/his 2014-2015 league team. Every attempt will be made to have fair and competitive draws, so exceptions to this rule are expected to be minimal. MA Squash will use the US Squash ratings as of December 31, 2014 for determining eligibility for the skill level draws.
Players may enter up to two Open draws and up to two Women’s skill level draws. MA Squash encourages players to register in more than one skill level draw, but again, players cannot play below their rating–only up (for instance, a player with a 3.75 rating may enter the 4.0 draw and the 4.5 draw, not the 3.5 draw). Eligibility to play in each open or Women’s skill level draws will be reviewed by the respective draw coordinator. If you wish to register for an age level draw, you must be the minimum age of the draw as of January 1, 2015. The 26 draws offered are listed below.
Draws:
Open skill levels: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0+
Women’s skill levels: 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.5+
Women’s age levels: 20+, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+
Mens’ age levels: 35+, 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+
Don’t miss this very competitive and fun event. Even if you don’t make it through to the finals, please plan to attend finals night at Harvard’s Murr Center on Thursday, April 9th starting at 6:00 P.M. Refreshments will be provided courtesy of MA Squash.
To register please follow the steps below.
Make sure that your US Squash membership is current or you will not be able to register.
- Go to the US Squash web site: www.ussquash.com
- Log in using your user name and password
- Click on “Play Squash” and select “Tournaments”
- Scroll down to 1/5/2015 (tournaments are in order of start date) and for the “2015 MA Squash Singles Championships” click on the green “Sign up” box on the left.
- Scroll up and follow the directions, registering for one draw at a time:
- Click the check box of the “division” (draw) you wish to enter.
- Tab through remaining fields and enter corresponding data
- Your mobile number in the “Player Contact Cell Phone” box
- Your e-mail address in the “Player Contact Email” box
- Your last and first name (separated by a comma) in the “Player Name” box
- When your name is found, select yourself
- If you do not have a shirt size in the “Player Shirt Size” field, add one. You will not receive a shirt, but this field is required.
- Click on “Add to cart”.
You will now be registered for the draw that you selected. If you would like to register for additional draws, you will have to repeat the process for all subsequent draws.
The coordinator for each draw will review the players who registered in their respective draws and will notify you if you are not eligible for that draw.
