US Squash Updates Accredited Competition COVID Protocols; U.S. Championships Registration Open for 2021-2022 Season

By August 31, 2021 News

In response to the recent surge in COVID-19, US Squash has updated its guidelines and recommendations for accredited competition. These protocols are designed to support the desire for many members of the squash community to return to play and competition, while acknowledging that prioritizing the safety of the community requires ongoing adaptation to ensure all reasonable protective measures are in place to do so.

The updated protocols maintain the recommendation that masks be worn at all levels of play and add proof of full vaccination as a requirement for participation in all accredited tournaments for those eligible to be vaccinated. On-site testing at U.S. Championships and Junior Championship Tour (JCT) events will also be conducted beginning September 3, 2021. Mask use is still recommended for all competitors regardless of vaccination status, and is required in most circumstances.

The additional safety measures were developed after extensive consultation with the Medical Advisory Committee, National Championships Committee and Junior Squash Advisory Panel. The new guidelines will help mitigate risk and allow continued hosting of squash events subject to local rules, serving an important role in sustaining the sport for competitors, host facilities, tournament directors and teaching professionals.
