Thanks for your feedback on our Membership Survey. Regarding the issues that elicit the strongest responses, we want to post what you had to say and solicit any suggestions or solutions to these topics. Please send them to the above email address.
In response to the question asking which scoring system you prefer, the answers were spread out enough that it would seem to make sense for us to continue the Visiting Team Choice method for league play, rather than dictate any one method to our members. 34% prefer HiHo9, 44.4% prefer PAR11, and 18.1% prefer PAR15. 3.5% of respondents had no preference. Even though when asked if you prefer having a choice of scoring, 69.4% of respondents said No.
When asked if you saw a need for a change in scoring method when it was HiHo9, 78.6% said No. 15% said they sometimes thought that a change would be a good idea. 6.4% said they always thought the scoring system needed a change.
Paraphrased Comments that seemed to sum up the issue included:
- *Shortening the matches by switching to PAR11 makes sense only for top, elite players, but not for middling to lower skilled players who now have matches as short as 15 minutes long.
- *We should just go along with whatever the Pro players use.
- *Conformity for the sake of trying to please the International Olympic Committee is a fool’s errand.
- *I have adjusted to the new system and it doesn’t seem very important now.
Do you have any further suggestions or solutions to the scoring dilemma? If so let me know, so the Board can debate them this summer. Thanks!
