September saw the first two MA Squash Rules Clinics of the season rolled out. Marblehead’s Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA and the Union Boat Club each hosted a dozen or so enthusiastic squashers as Rules and Referees Chairman, Nat Lovell, presented his multi-media Clinic. These events are comprised of spoken presentation covering the basics, professional player video footage of advanced Let, Stroke, No Let instruction, and finally live play between volunteers on court with audience participation and discussion of actual interference situations. As Union Boat Club Head Pro, Chris Smith, commented to his attendees, “learning the rules and becoming better referees WILL make you safer and better players.” Amen.
