The MA Squash President’s Award was given this year to Linda Watts to recognize her extraordinary service to MA Squash and to the squash community at large over a period of some thirty-five years.
Linda, who also received the prestigious Ellen Borie Trophy in 1986 for her sportsmanship, competitive spirit, and contributions to women’s squash, was an active player, team captain, and league chair for many years before joining the Executive Board of Massachusetts Squash in 1991. Over the next 23 years, she served as Women’s League Coordinator (1991-1995); Treasurer (1995-1997); VP and editor of the newsletter, website and yearbook (1997-1999); President (1999-2001); Past President and Membership Coordinator (2001-2003); and At-large member for League Scheduling and Historian (2000-2014).
Though “retired” from competition and from the Board, Linda still does the important hard work of scheduling the leagues and organizing the Annual Meeting.
Thank you and congratulations, Linda!
