MA Squash members are cordially invited to play in the annual Eastern States Invitational Squash Racquets Tournament to be held Friday, January 23 through Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the Yale Club in New York.
The Eastern States has a long and illustrious history as an age-group tournament, and this year, it is part of the Premier Masters Grand Prix Series of tournaments that includes events like the Harvard Club’s Milt Russ tournament, Atlanta’s Grand Masters event, and the Windy City Open in Chicago. Join us as we restore the Eastern States to its “glory days” level of participation.
The hardball matches will be played at the Harvard Club on 44th Street and the softball matches will be played at the Yale Club. Lunch on Saturday will be provided at the Yale Club squash courts, and there will be cocktails and a buffet supper Saturday evening, also at the Yale Club.
The entry form indicates age divisions (as of start of play), but please enter only one division as there will be consolation draws for all non-round robin draws. In the event of small draws, divisions may be combined.
A limited number of rooms for players and their families are available at the Yale Club on Friday and/or Saturday night at the reduced rate of $220 per night (queen room) and $240 per night (king room).
The tournament is sanctioned by US Squash, and approved protective eyewear will be required. The scoring system for softball will be the PAR-11. Losers of each round will be requested to referee a match.
To enter, fill out and return the entry form by 5pm on Friday, January 16, 2015. If there are more than 16 entries in your division (unlikely), you may have to play a match on Friday. To find out when your first match is scheduled, call the Yale Club squash courts at (212) 716-2128 after 2:00pm on Wednesday, January 21, 2015.
The softball and hardball draws will be posted at the Yale Club Squash Courts on the 6th floor in the afternoon of January 21; the hardball draws will also be posted at the Harvard Club.
