** KidSquash announces Harvard’s Hameed Ahmed as the new director and lead coach **
Satinder Bajwa, the Founder and President of KidSquash, is pleased to announce that Hameed Ahmed, an international squash professional and Assistant Coach for Men’s and Women’s Squash at Harvard University, has been appointed the new Director and Lead Coach.
Ahmed served as the Lead Coach for KidSquash during the 2013-14 season and will replace Tariq Mohammed who has served KidSquash for 9 years. Coach Bajwa states: “We could not have hoped for a better person than Hameed to take over from Tariq, who has been a tremendous asset for KidSquash. As the Founder I am truly excited and looking forward to seeing how Hameed will impart his vast experience of playing, coaching and mentoring the children at KidSquash.”
In addition to serving as the Lead Coach, Ahmed will be responsible for the administrative elements of KidSquash that involve a variety of tasks related to planning, coordinating and implementing the clinics as well as being an advocate for health and wellness through community squash programs. Ahmed will continue to promote KidSquash in the Greater Boston area and strengthen its ties to Harvard University as well as various existing and new sponsors of the program.
After spending two seasons at his alma mater, the University of Rochester, as the Assistant Coach, Ahmed joined the Harvard Squash coaching ranks. During his time at Rochester he made a big impact on the squash program, coaching six athletes that earned All-American honors, 10 athletes who were named All-Liberty League and one athlete who was named the Liberty League “Player of the Year”. During his collegiate career, Ahmed earned three All American recognitions and served as team captain for three seasons. Internationally he represented the Finnish men’s national team at six European Team Championships and three World Team Championships. He has won seven Finnish Junior Championships as well three European Junior Grand Prix titles.
Ahmed was one of Finland’s 2007 Fulbright Undergraduate grantees who received a scholarship to pursue undergraduate studies in the United States. He earned his bachelor’s degree (English) in 2011 and graduated from Rochester’s Simon School of Business with a master’s degree (Business Administration) in 2013.
** KidSquash announces 2014-15 schedule and registration process **
Our 2014-15 season, registration process is underway with a new schedule that consists of a total of 15 sessions on Saturdays and Wednesdays as a means to offer greater instruction and flexibility for all.
