Junior Round Robin Program 2014-2015 (revised 10/19/14)
The MA Squash Junior Committee is pleased to announce the following dates for the Junior Round Robin Program for the 2014-2015 season:
Sunday, September 21
Sunday, October 19
Sunday, November 9
Sunday, January 11
Sunday, February 8
Sunday, March 29
This is a series of Sunday afternoon round robins, held at Harvard’s Murr Center, for beginner/intermediate junior players to play games in a friendly, less competitive environment. Please note that there will not be any sessions at Milton Academy.
Efforts are made to group the kids into pods with players of similar ability where possible. Pod 1 is the strongest group – players participate in gold level tournaments; pod 2 level players regularly participate in tournaments, pod 3 level players are beginning to play tournaments, pod 4 players have some match experience, and pod 5 players can carry on points, but have little match-play experience.
There are two separate sessions held on these Sunday afternoons. Starting in November, pods 1, 4, and 5 play from 2:00-3:30pm, and pods 2 and 3 play from 3:30 to 5:00pm.
This program is free, with preference given to MA/US Squash members.
To register for the 2014-15 season, please send an email to Jon Ross (email below), with the following info: Child’s full name, age, birthday, USSQUASH membership# (if applicable), and pod# (1-5, see above) where the child should be placed for now. Also include parent’s name, email, and phone#.
The MA Squash Junior Committee will send out a reminder to those registered about 2-3 weeks prior to each event. Also, reminders are included in the frequent MA Squash general email blasts. To receive those, add your name to the MA Squash general email list. There is a signup box for that on the main MA Squash web page.
Volunteers are always needed. Parents are encouraged to help out at any of the sessions – no prior experience necessary. Just let the Round Robin site coordinator know when you arrive on the day of play.
We look forward to another active season and enjoyable Sunday afternoons.
