The fans were plentiful and loud in support of the players at Harvard’s Murr Center last Thursday at a fantastic MA Squash Finals Night bash. All 26 final matches and several 3/4 playoff and consolation matches provided continuous action on eight courts, the culmination of the the three-month long tournament. For nearly four hours players delighted the crowd while demonstrating amazing physical skill, strategy and fitness.
Players of all skill levels and ages contested the matches with winners ranging in age from 11 to 78, a positive sign for the future of squash in Msssachusetts. Each year the competition improves, the number of players participating increases and having great squash played on finals night is the reward for both players and spectators.
The MA Squash tournament and the finals night event are organized and managed by a large number of volunteers from MA Squash who construct the draws, keep the matches on schedule and referee the final matches. Thanks to all of them who give so much time to make this event the biggest and best of the squash season. Thanks also to the players and fans who frequently express their gratitude for making this event a success.
