Head Squash Pro/Director Opening – The Fessenden School

The Fessenden School in Newton, MA is building a new, state-of-the-art five-court Squash facility that is slated to open in September. The courts will serve the school’s growing competitive and recreational squash programs. In addition, the School’s geography, reputation, and marketing reach provide an opportunity to open up a squash training center to utilize the courts during non-school hours. The center will focus on new and developing junior squash players and is now seeking an experienced squash professional to lead this effort. The ideal candidate will be someone with strong playing/coaching experience, excellent relationship building skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for squash and for working with children.

Essential Functions

  • Teach high-quality one-on-one lessons.

  • Develop and lead group clinics.

  • Develop and lead regional tournaments hosted onsite.

  • Develop and direct vacation and summer programs.

  • Develop and implement a marketing plan to drive player enrollment.

  • Serve as point of contact for all communication and inquiries.

  • Monitor court usage in person and through Club Locker software.

  • Perform administrative tasks as needed.

  • May include providing coaching expertise to Fessenden squash teams and coaches.

Qualifications

  • Extensive background coaching players with a range of abilities – from beginner to elite level. Emphasis will likely be on working with younger players.

  • Experience managing recreational components of a squash program – running clinics, hosting tournaments, etc.

  • Ability to develop, accelerate and maintain a successful squash program for various age levels.

  • Eagerness to work in a school community and build relationships with all school constituencies to market the squash programs.

  • Understanding of the business side of squash as it relates to managing a school’s squash facility.

  • Experience managing a budget.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Courteous and professional, punctual and organized.

  • Outgoing, friendly, and passionate about the sport of squash.

  • Goal oriented.

  • Proficient in Google suite of applications and Club Locker

Other Requirements

  • Weekend, evening, and holiday hours required

  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification (or willingness to get certified)

  • Ability to provide a number of squash lessons throughout the day/evening.

  • Ability to walk, stand and be involved in rigorous exercise.

  • Being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment. The School will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.

Compensation

  • Compensation will be based on a combination of hourly salary and very competitive commission.

  • Part-time, non-benefits eligible
