The purpose of MA Squash is to promote the game of squash in the state. Ongoing efforts include:
- Organizing and coordinating softball singles and hardball doubles team leagues in the fall/spring season and a summer.softball singles team league in the greater Boston area
- Sponsoring and coordinating annual statewide multi-flight softball singles, hardball doubles and softball doubles tournaments – free to MA Squash members
- Maintaining an active website that includes the latest squash news, calendar of events and items of interest to the squash community
- Organizing and coordinating multiple annual sanctioned junior tournaments that count toward local and national rankings
- Organizing and coordinating Sunday afternoon Junior round robins for beginners and intermediates
- Support for SquashBusters, including the granting of summer camp scholarships
- Support for Kidsquash
- Sponsorship of and partnering with pro tournaments in the area
- Support for MA Squash members’ participation in national individual and team tournaments
- Support for US Squash by promoting joint membership in the US/MA organizations
- Providing Squash Magazine via combined US/MA Squash membership
- Participation for players in the national ratings/rankings system
- Annual ranking of singles, juniors, and league teams in Massachusetts
- Sponsorship or running of teaching/rules clinics
- Marketing support for local club tournaments
- Regular email communications to a distribution list of 1,000 members and 1,500 friends
- Support of annual event for Boston Area club pros to discuss common topics
- Hosting of annual awards ceremony and members’ party
- Operations supported by a small budget and huge enthusiasm for squash
- Coordination of all activities by volunteers: MA Squash executive board, Junior Committee, league captains and many others
